Irving Newspaper apologizes to Prime Minster Harper: Oops. We made it up.

This has all the hallmarks of a darkly modern divine comedy.

We have a former Governor General - the late Romeo LeBlanc - laid to rest in his small home town in New Brunswick attended by the high, the mighty and the neighbors of all political stripes.

We have a YouTube video of a Catholic bishop handing a Protestant Prime Minister a communion wafer (did he, didn't he? is it sleight of hand? of tongue?).

We have an editor with a reputation of, shall we say, Shakesperean proportions closely allied with the eldest grandson of K.C Irving, the man who started the wheels turning on his dad's rural sawmill that eventually spun into a 4.4 billion dollar empire that is so vertically integrated the trees have page numbers on them.

We have a publishing conglomerate - granted in one of the smaller provinces of North America - that at least denies it tries to control the minds of its constituents and that was, until today, being gradually turned over to the grandson with illusions of journalistic grandeur.

We have the anonymous rabble like me posting insightful or absurd comments based on knowing nothing, thinking less and occasionally hitting the mark.

For example: Many Con posters have lambasted what they perceive as Liberal leaning NB Publishing (that's what the Irving's call the company that is newspaper publishing in New Brunswick,) Liberal leaning? This week, maybe. Whatever way the buck blows. Don't believe me? Have a look at the historical fued between Louis Robichaud, the francophone patron saint of New Brunswick Liberals, and his not so good pals the Irvings who called him - in print - everything but Scottish. The Globe & Mail's obit is a good place to start.)

And the blood has only begun to flow.

Here's something to keep you amused tomorrow: check out the online versions of the Irving papers (canadaeast.com - can't believe I'm posting this link but hey - it's a special case) to see what is - or isn't - published about this soap opera tomorrow.

This is almost as much fun as sunshine.
